Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken graduates some of the nation’s top engineers and scientists, but, now and then, a few musicians sneak through, too.
Shwank and Dale, two indie-rock bands whose members met at Stevens, will perform together on Saturday, Nov. 23 at a self-promoted show in the Neumann Leathers Building in Hoboken, with the Mile Square City’s underage emo-punks 3 Dollars on the bill as well.
This isn’t unprecedented. Jack Skuller, a touring musician who literally grew up onstage in the Hudson music scene, studied studio production at Stevens. Other Ducks alumni include Jay Weinberg, the drummer for Slipknot, and Carlos Alomar, a world-class guitarist who’s worked with David Bowie, Paul McCartney and Alicia Keys. And up-and-coming indie trio Phoneboy formed at Stevens.
